ADKHighpeaks Foundation is a 501(c)3 Not for profit charitable institution. Besides providing funding to organizations that fall within its mission, it also owns and operates two very popular forums that cater to the outdoor enthusiast in the New Yok Forest Perserves.
This community is made up of great folks who love the outdoors. Two of the members of the ADKHighpeak Forum, Wayne AKA "Waynald" and Steve AKA "Little Brown Mushroom" have offered to do this extreme hike as a fundraiser for the foundation.
here is a description of the challenge by Wayne:
What:
An attempt to climb the ten highest peaks in NY in twenty four hours. The route will summit fifteen 4k peaks across about fifty miles with twenty thousand feet of elevation gain ( the height of Mt McKinley)
Where:
the High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks.
Who:
A couple of guys in their mid fifties that love hiking and the outdoors.
When:
March 7-8, 2015
Why:
All funds raised will go to The ADKhighpeaks Foundation:
Last year Neil Luckhurst, a board member, co-founder and sage of the Foundation and Forum completed Project46 where he climbed all 46 high peaks in under ten days raising nearly $15,000 for the foundation. It is this type of challenge that has motivated Wayne and Steve to try and create the same type of enthusiasm and fundraising for a great cause.
