'Cuts for Kids at Jeannette Myhre

Haircuts can be hard for families (especially low-income families) to fit in their budget. This is why we are providing free lice checks, haircuts, nail painting, face-painting, and more to Jeannette Myhre Elementary School - a high-poverty school in Bismarck.
'Cuts for Kids was created by Sommer Hunke and myself, Jade Neumann, as a part of a community-based leadership project.
Why? Because we believe every child should have the confidence that fresh-styled hair brings. A haircut is more than just trimming split ends and combing out tangles; it boosts children’s confidence and can allow for them to focus more on learning and developing.
Its easy to take for granted things like hair cuts or being able to wash your hair, and it breaks my heart that there are kids within our community that don't get that, or don't get it often. We really just want to make as much of an impact on these kids as we can.
The funds we receive from this will allow for us to purchase lice kits, mirrors, capes, combs, neck tape, other materials needed for cutting hair, and meet our other operational costs of this. Currently, the financial burden of this falls completely on Sommer and I. These funds will allow for us to get reimbursed for the materials and operational expenses we have purchased so that we can focus on making this event as great as possible for the kids at Myhre. From there, if there are any additional funds left over, we will deliver the funds to Jeannette Myhre Elementary School, who can then use the excess funds in other ways that benefit the students.
