The #00Bienal de la Habana is an independently organized art event that will run from May 5-15th 2018 in Havana, Cuba. It is an inclusive and democratic event, planned in collaboration with many artists. We seek to forge connections with the Cuban people. This project was initiated by artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara and curator Yanelys Nuñez Lleya.
La #00Bienal de La Habana es un evento independiente que se realizará del 5 al 15 de mayo de 2018 en La Habana. Cuba. Es un evento inclusivo, democrático, planificado desde la colaboración entre los artistas y buscando establecer conexiones con el pueblo cubano. Este proyecto fue iniciado por el artista Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara y la curadora Yanelys Nuñez Lleyva.
I am a Cuban American artist and writer and I have collaborated with artists in Cuba for thirty years. The biennial organizers are friends and colleagues. I agreed to help with their project because I believe in supporting independent artistic culture in Cuba. I am in daily contact with them via email about this campaign. The funds will be spent on publicity for the event, production costs, and purchase of multimedia equipment for the exhibition. I will deliver the donations in person in Spring 2018.
