On August 16, 2019 our family’s life changed forever.
Adam went into A&E with pain in his abdomen. He thought he had a hernia or appendicitis. It was something much worse.
At just 36 years old Adam discovered he had stage four bowel cancer.
Within days he had part of his bowel removed and a stoma fitted.
We found out the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and liver. This was devastating news for us and our young family.
After surgery we met his oncologist who told us Adam had a particularly nasty form of bowel cancer.
It is aggressive and not particularly responsive to chemotherapy.
Only 12 to 15 per cent of bowel cancers are this form.
The oncologist told us the drug she would recommend to keep him alive is no longer available on the NHS because it is too expensive.
It costs just over £11’000 for just 12 weeks of treatment. At this point we don’t know how many weeks he will need, it will be at least 12 but heartbreakingly It could be as many as 100! Any funds we don’t use will go to charity.
Our three children are six, five and 2. We desperately want him to see them grow up and for them to have more memories of him.
Without this treatment our lives will never be the same again. My heart breaks for our children.
This is why I have set up this Go Fund Me in the hope people will help us raise this mammoth amount to keep the Daddy we love alive longer.
Just a couple of months ago we were celebrating after winning the retail category in the Family Business Awards, and we have also been announced as one of the 100 for this years small business Saturday.
Now we just want a future.
We are utterly devastated to announce that Adam sadly passed away May 2020. He will never be forgotten
