One More Day of Life for Dhilip

Our colleague Dhilip Ravichandran is a great guy who needs your help just to survive. On Saturday 11th July 2015 our happy, healthy colleague (who donates every month to fund a child, he is not related to and has never met, through schooling) was knocked from his motorbike by a hit-and-run driver leaving him for dead on the streets of Chennai India.

The emergency services took him to the general hospital at Kilpauk which is not equipped for head injuries. Sometime later they transported Dhilip to another hospital 5 miles away and left him unconscious to wait for his family to attend. No attempt was made to contact his family, only when his concerned wife called his mobile, which was answered by a nurse, did anyone know to him discover his predicament. Only when our colleagues arrived with his wife and some funds for the hospital did anyone begin to attend to Dhilip’s massive life-threatening needs.

On arrival at hospital Dhilip was bleeding from his ears, eyes, nose and mouth, he had multiple internal injuries, bone fractures and a fractured skull. He was in a deep coma and having difficulty breathing. The second hospital arranged a brain scan identifying severe damage and concern over vital lost time before treatment.

We are so proud of our colleagues, they found and paid the immediate fees for emergency care at a third well-equipped private hospital, Apollo Specialities hospital at Teynampet, which boasts world-class standards of treatment for neurology.

Dhilip is still in a deep coma and is supported on a ventilator in the critical care unit. He required an emergency operation to remove part of his skull to prevent his swollen brain causing damage through excessive pressure. 10 days after the accident there are the first signs of recovery, there is hope he may soon be able to breathe unaided. There is no doubting that without the specialist critical care of Apollo Specialities Hospital Dhilip would have died.

Dhilip is a talented web designer and the first member of his family to be educated. The limited financial means of his family were exhausted almost immediately. Our company is small and with the help of generous suppliers and customers we have supported the costs approaching £20,000 so far. New costs are accruing at the rate of almost £1200 per day. We need help. We need your help to give a lovely, talented, and generous man his own chance of life. Without more generous people the treatment Dhilip needs to live must cease and he will be moved to a general hospital with only basic care insufficient to sustain him.

All proceeds will go directly to the hospital with any excess over the required contributions going to help others who cannot afford the care they need to survive. Please help with whatever you can afford and are moved to donate.
