CVM's Moving Fund
Donation protected
Center for Visual Music (CVM) needs your support. Huge rent increase on our downtown LA offices - we need to move by October 1. We're raising money for moving costs including security deposit, first and last months' rent, trucks, labor, boxes, packing materials for artwork, shelving and renovations in a new office space, etc. We have the world's largest collection of visual music-related resources, and a large library to move!
Help us save and preserve this very special genre, help us move to a better space in the greater Los Angeles area. A better space will allow us to provide greater access to more researchers and visitors, add more staff to process and manage our extensive Oskar Fischinger archive, continue our digitization projects, and offer intern and educational opportunities. With the right space, we can hold salons and small screenings.
CVM is an archive devoted to experimental animation, visual music and abstract cinema. CVM preserves and promotes the films of Oskar Fischinger , Jordan Belson, Charles Dockum and others. Our archive includes pre-digital cinema pioneers and early experiments in kinetic art. Our collections include Fischinger's papers and animation artwork, the original research collection of animation historian Dr. William Moritz , preserved films and research material for John and James Whitney, Mary Ellen Bute , and much more.
CVM curates and presents film programs, exhibitions, lectures and public programming at venues worldwide. Our collections are used by scholars, students, curators, artists and researchers worldwide. CVM also has an online store with DVDs and books, and some rare films online at our vimeo channels.
