My friends... there has been so much...
My friends...
there has been so much on my mind and in my heart the last few months...as to what direction I should take to help those in need. I finally cleared my head...opened my heart...and gave the reins to G-d.
And as it should be...my path is clear and my vision even clearer. The clinic in Tororo is not being helped as I was told it would be. This is not an unusual thing in Uganda...as so many entities are corrupt. It is heartbreaking to say the least. But...
I am in close contact with my extended family Gideon and his wife Lillian and they are forging ahead to develop and implement a full healthcare/hospital facility where those in need...will not be turned away.
Gideon prays of having a surgical suite. Just one...he said he would dedicate it in my name...'Martha's Suite'...that definitely brings tears...My role is to help them...and I would be honored to circulate any case in it!
I am once again reaching out to you to help as well. In any way that you can...whether it is financial...donating supplies...or prayers.
I do not have an actual financial goal in mind...but I will start the ball rolling with a personal $200 donation. I know how far that will go in Uganda and I will post photos of the clinic as it is now...and hopefully have additional photos of the building they wish to purchase and renovate.
I have seen the building...it is centrally located in the city of Tororo and therefore easily accessible for those in need.
The closest hospital now...is 45 kilometers away. I pray we can do this together and make it happen. I am not going to be travelling there as I would like...because the money I would spend on airfare is better spent on getting this facility up and running. Thank you all in advance for your help and prayers.

My friends...my 2 week trip turned...
My friends...my 2 week trip turned into a 3 week trip...right before we left. It has been an incredible experience to say the least. The medical outreach was very educational. I spent the day in a clinic in Tororo. I watched as the doctor had to turn away many people because of the lack of equipment and resources. I fought back tears and so did he. One man was brought by 2 other men on a boda (motorcycle). His leg was obviously broken and the men had fashioned a splint from dirty layered cardboard and some type of jute string. There used to be an x-ray machine at the clinic but...advertising for x-ray on the clinics sign is all that remains...and this is why...because of the corruption in Uganda...the man that was renting the machine to the clinic...had a better buyer...showed up one day...and just took the machine. Even though the doctor was making the payments. Because of this... the man must travel at least 45 KM to another facility...that may or may not be able to help him. That is the type of thing that can break your heart...as well as your spirit. But he perserveres and continues to help those he can. Through Pastor Ruth...an opportunity arose and I met with the Vice-president of Uganda's secretary Pastor Macho. I shared the story with him and asked for his help. Through him...he promises connections will be made to bring in the neccessary equipment and the contracts will be binding. I pray that this will be a reality. Donations are still needed as the clinic is run solely by Doctor Gideon and his wife. I will also be asking those here in the states for any help with continued donations of medical supplies and funding. I will be posting pictures of the clinic soon. Thank you again for those that were so generous. I shared your names with Doctor Gideon and he expresses his heartfelt thanks for the many prayers and supplies.
We didn't do this by chance. G-d brought each of us together for the common good and for that...I am very very thankful.

It's been awhile since I have...
It's been awhile since I have posted an update and for that...I do apologize.
I have some good news to share...through your love and generous donations we raised enough to cover the cost of my trip and a small percentage of the airfare!!!
I've been busy over the last 2 weeks doing a balancing act and juggling many of the donated items between the 2 allowed checked bags. This is a good thing!
I've also been working with a fellow team member who lives in Arizona to coordinate items that she doesn't have room for in her bags but are essential for this mission and she's having them drop shipped to me to pack. The cost of an extra checked bag is very high and this will work out well.
For those of you that work at the hospitals...surgery centers...or doctor's offices...we still are in need of medical supplies. Anti-biotic ointments...coban...betadine swabs...the forehead temp strips...any unused or unwanted instruments.
If anyone has fold-out maps...I will take them. The children love to learn about the world and where they live in relation to other's. My last trip...I drew maps in the sand. I'm not that great a drawer!
The fold-out maps work well as they are easiest & lightest to pack. And of all the states...they know about Texas the best!
Much love and thanks to all!

My friends...I am reaching out to each one of you for the help that is needed in bringing a dream...into a reality.
My extended family Gideon and Lillian have hopes of renovating a building into a full service healthcare/hospital so that those that are usually turned away from the clinic and have to walk the 45 kilometers into the city...can now be treated right in the center of town.
I thank each and every one of you in advance for any help that you can give. I know how difficult times are right now and I do so appreciate the help. No donation is too small or too big.
Thank you again.
