Zoey was born at 36 weeks at birth she was diagnosed with VACTERL. It is an association of birth defects, V vertebral A anal C cardiac TE tracheoesophgeal fistula R renal L limb. Zoey has the C TE R. Her esophagus was attached to her trachea, her stomach was not connected to her small intestines,one kidney is slightly smaller, and she has tetraology of fallout. She has had 7 surgeries in 8 months including one open heart surgery. She has lived in the NICU at Monroe Carroll Jr hospital at Vanderbilt since she was born. 8 1/2 months later she finally went home!.
Zoey has been back in the hospital since Feb 2014 with another heart surgery and numerous complications, including 2 arrests and a stroke. Zoey has now have to have a trach and is on a ventilator 24/7.
We are trying to get Zoey up to the Bostons childrens hospital. They are the number 1 ranked cardiac hospital and have agreed to see Zoey. Unfortunately I am not sure how long we will have to be in Boston.
It will cost approximately $5000 a month for myself and Zoey to be in Boston. We need $5,000 minimum and our goal of $15,000 will give us 3 months.
