HELP! Lost My Job Due to Diabetes

Donation protected
I have diabetes, a manageable disease. I, like most diabetics, have had to work harder than some others in order to prove that we are as good as anyone else at doing our jobs. I am not well educated, or highly skilled in any way. Therefore, I am limited to physical labor jobs. However, as I have gotten older, my diabetes has progressed to the point that daily I must work through the pains of diabetic neuropathy, which I have throughout most of my body.

I had been working a steady job until July 8th when I was let go. The reason I was given, was because I was considered a "Safety Risk" because of my diabetes, even though I never caused - or even came close to causing - any type of accident or dangerous situation for myself or anyone else.

Unfortunately for me, there are many factors working against me at this point. Because I was hired through & paid by a Temp Agency, I have been told that I have little to no recourse against the Supervisor who let me go simply because I am a diabetic. Also, I have been denied any unemployment benefits because I only worked at that job for 6 month & my previous job was sub-contract work. Therefore, I have not earned enough in order to draw any benefits.

So, here I am today with no income, no unemployment benefits, no job prospects, no savings & less than $100 in the bank. I have been actively seeking other employment & sending in my resume to job opportunities I think I would qualify for since the day I was let go, but I have not heard back from any of them.

I can not pay my car payment or utility bills or even buy food. By the first of August, I will not have the funds to pay for my health insurance, which will leave me without coverage for doctors visits & needed medication for my diabetes. My wife will not have coverage for her doctors & asthma medication.

I have applied for Social Security Disability, but my doctor said that my condition isn't considered debilitating enough to receive assistance. So, I hold little hope for any help coming from that source.

We have never asked for help publicly before. We have always worked hard & tried to get by the best we can. However, we have now reached a point that we are becoming desperate for money. I can not go without my medication. Doing so would let the pain from neuropathy become so intolerable, I would not be able to function at all.

We are asking for funds to help sustain us until I can find other work. We are even willing to re-locate for work, if need be, but that takes money, too.

So, that is my situation. If anyone can help, we would be ever so grateful! God Bless You!
