Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. and is the first international fraternal organization to be founded at a historically Black college. Today, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity has over 700 chapters throughout the United States, Bermuda, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Korea, Japan, Liberia, Germany, and Kuwait. The New Jersey Chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. (known as “Corridor IV, State of New Jersey”) are attempting to become the first Pan-Hellenic organization -- composed of nine (9) International Historically Black Greek Letter Sororities and Fraternities -- to establish a specialized organizational license plate in the State of New Jersey.
The purpose of this GoFundMe initiative is to raise the funds to cover the administrative fees assessed by the State of New Jersey Motor Vehicles Commission (NJMVC). The specialized organizational license plate was authorized under New Jersey Assembly Bill A-3804 on January 23, 2014. The plates, when produced, will be available for purchase by any member of the Fraternity that can legally register a motor vehicle in the State of New Jersey.
Once this Omega Psi Phi Fraternity specialized organizational license plate program is established, with each annual registration renewal, a portion of the registration renewal fees charged by NJMVC for each plate will be returned to Corridor IV for the purpose of funding a statewide scholarship program, which any high school senior in New Jersey can apply for. Thus, exemplifying one of Omega’s Four Cardinal Principles: Scholarship.
Omega Psi Phi’s motto is "Friendship is Essential to the Soul" and the implied motto is "Lifting as we climb". With your help, we will be able to be a “Friend” to countless students in pursuit of their academic endeavors. Please help us “Lift as we climb”, and support us in our efforts to become the first Pan-Hellenic organization to establish a specialized organizational license plate in the State of New Jersey.
