BUILD SCHOOL IN RURAL ZAMBIA

Tax deductible
Every day in Zambia, hundreds of thousands of citizens of all ages suffer from illiteracy or a lack of sufficient education. This invisible and debilitating handicap puts them at great risk for abuse, disease, injury, exploitation, and lost opportunities. Of the many obstacles faced each day, one of the most devastating is the inability to understand, speak, read, or write in Zambia’s official language which is English, or to read or write in their mother language. In the two villages we have the honor of serving, the nearest school is 8 to 10 kilometers away. Due to the fact that children must walk this distance to and from school, it has created the condition where those few children who are privileged to attend school cannot do so until they are ten years old (on average) and old and strong enough to walk that distance. But due to the effect of the walk they struggle to remain attentive during class time. This experience still finds most students in primary school at the age of 15 or older, which causes disappointment and a loss of self-esteem and the motivation to move forward with their education.

In addition, the majority of the people of Zambia are faced with life-threatening diseases such as AIDS, malaria, hypertension and tuberculosis. The average life expectancy is 58 years, and according to the latest Zambia Demographic and Health Survey (ZDHS), half of the population of Zambia is below the age of 15 due to the afore mentioned devastations.

Our goal is to transform more than 200 acres of land into a model self-sustaining state of the art holistic community development program with its primary purpose to educate the girl child and women. The program goals consist of a Primary and Secondary School complex (for both day and residential students), including Adult Literacy, Jobs Skills training and Health Education programs, along with a Community Health Center, an Orphanage, a Child Care Center and a Community Service Program.  Commercial ventures will consist of the raising of animals, farming and gardening, a plant nursery, fruit and avocado orchards, reforestation, a cannery and a recycling plant.
