Need Help for a Rural Indian School

Donation protected

Beyond the glittering of Bollywood and global technology centers, there is another India.  Vibrant with cultures but very poor rural India.   There is still much to be done in order to truly make India a modernized nation. India still needs significant improvement in its basic infrastructure which is not just limited to building bridges, highways and airports but also providing basic amenities like electricity, drinking water, bathrooms and shelter to all. Approximately 276 million people are living below $1.25 per day on purchasing power which makes them living below the poverty line. Most of these people are from really backward rural areas.

Recently elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Clean-India initiative in order to make India more sanitary, eco-friendly, and advanced in terms of infrastructure and the daily living standard of people.  This is known as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Project and already it has made a big difference.  The campaign was officially launched on October 2, 2014.

It is the education that leads to the road to betterment of a community and the nation at large. One of the common problem that hinder the growth of education in rural India is lack of proper infrastructure such as no proper classroom, teaching equipment, playgrounds and even basic facilities like clean toilets and drinking water. Proper availability of basic facilities like clean toilets, drinking water, adequate classroom facilities, and timely motivational programs for teachers should be there. The right reformation can definitely bring about a positive change towards the development of rural education in India.  That is why I decided to undertake community work to help couple of schools in rural and tribal India.

Current Project: The Janta Inter College has benefited greatly from the implementation of drinking water. The kids are overjoyed and the school environment has improved exponentially. The next project under this campaign is to get a projector for improved instruction. Why a projector? Professors from nearby IIT (a renowned technological institute) periodically visit the school to teach the children. Most of the lesson material is stored on their laptops and a projector will allow the professors to effectively use this material for teaching. This will thus yield a more efficient and better learning environment for the children. The current estimate for the material and installation is $1000
Education is the cornerstone of development and the best way for humanity to advance. Let us do our part to make sure people everywhere are properly given this important gift. Please donate to achieve this goal.

Community Project:  Provide basic amenities like drinking water/toilets for poor children coming to school in rural India.

Completed Project
: School is a Junior High School located in Akbarpur Village, Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, India.  The students attending this school are children of farm laborers and from very poor background.  Currently, school doesn’t have any running water or well and drinking water is ferried from nearby well.   This project will finance to drill a bore-well, generator to pump water from the well, water-storage and pipes/taps to dispense water.   The estimate for the construction of the water facility is $1700
