Send Sarah To Servant Partners

Dear Family & Friends,

I am excited to let you know that I have finally finished my college career at UC Santa Cruz.  After five years of being a student at UCSC and a member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, I can definitely say that I am not the same person I was five years ago.

My years at UCSC were very challenging at times but also worthwhile. It allowed me to not only witness the ways God was working in my life but also in the lives of others He placed in my path.

Joining InterVarsity radically changed the way I viewed myself as an individual, the world and, most importantly, the character of God. I learned that God cares deeply for the wounded and broken-hearted, the oppressed and the poor. And as Christians, God calls all of us to serve wherever we are.

This is why I have decided to accept a two year internship living in San Jose with an organization called Servant Partners (www.servantpartners.org ). SP is a domestic and overseas mission organization committed to transforming impoverished communities around the world. Their domestic internship is focused on exploring the value of social justice and developing a lifestyle of loving the poor.

During the internship 9 other interns and I will be living in neighborhoods on the East side of San Jose, to build relationships with our neighbors and to learn about the inner city. The internship also consists of a month long trip to Nicaragua, a full-time working position in San Jose, and training in: leadership development, community organizing, and church planting in the inner city.

I am excited to see what God has in store for my future with Servant Partners and the opportunities I’ll have to learn more about God’s heart for the people around me.

I invite you to partner with me as I continue to learn, grow, and serve this coming Fall. More than anything, please pray for me and my fellow SP interns before and during our time with SP.  Please pray for my emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing. And for a continued faith, that God will provide a job in San Jose during the internship to do His will.

As an SP intern I have to raise $4000 to cover a mission’s trip to Nicaragua and for training materials that I will use during the internship. I would also really appreciate any financial support that you could provide that would make this internship possible.

God Bless,

Sarah Rojas
