Youth Company Chicago Facilities Upgrade

YOUTH COMPANY CHICAGO IS RAISING FUNDS FOR ITS NEW PERMANENT HOME IN JEFFERSON PARK
- We need your help to install permanent theatrical lighting, build-out our dressing room space, and purchase some basic equipment to help us in our quest to become the best theatre education program in Chicagoland.

Here is some of the latest news from Youth Company Chicago:

• We signed a multi-year lease on June 1; renovated, repainted, and turned a neglected storefront in Jefferson Park into a vibrant youth performing arts space.
  
  
• Summer programs served 40 kids in performance-based camps. Our Grades 3-7 fully-produced performances of Disney's Aladdin filled over 300 seats!
  
  
• Our first full season, 2012-2013, was announced in July. We are currently in rehearsals for  "Annie"; "Willy Wonka" will be our Spring program, and "The Music Man" will inspire our Summer 2013 young artists. 
  
  
• We opened a North Shore program, with one summer camp in Glencoe; then settled on a permanent satellite location for our North Shore program in downtown Evanston at Lake Street Church.
  
  
• By popular demand, we launched the Teen Ensemble in October.  We are currently in rehearsals for their first show, "Little Shop of Horrors," which will open in January.
  
  
• We are the official provider of Music Theatre instructional program at LaSalle Language Academy in Lincoln Park (a Chicago Magazine Top 20 School).  We teach basic skills to 40 students each Friday, and are preparing for a final performance of "Seussical" next semester.
  
  
• Most notably, we have awarded over $9,000 in financial aid to students that wouldn't have been able to participate in our Summer and Fall programs.  Our student body is extremely diverse, and we have already made a huge impact on so many families by giving them access to quality performing arts education.

With your funds, we plan to:
Purchase and install permanent theatrical lighting points.
Build-out permanent dressing room space in our unfinished basement.
Purchase equipment, including a high-quality microphone, costume racks, and permanent blackout shades for our beautiful storefront windows.
