“A Mother’s wish…”

 

Every year, prior to my mother being diagnosed with breast cancer, she would hold charity events around her local communities to raise funds to help out the Monks who live in “Bunk Preah” which is also known to be one of the poorest province in Cambodia. A decade ago, when my parents were married, my father had visited the province and realized that there weren’t any “Sala chan” which is a school and training for the monks. He immediately called my mom to have her put together a charity event for the cause.  As years went on, the temple and school have been completed through the generous donations of the good Samaritans but since the school and temple are built so far from the perimeter of the entrance, my mother, including her own money and donations had raised $20,000 to build a gate at the entrance to the temple. She was also in the process of building a “Paihai” which is where all the monuments of the Buddha’s are placed for the Monk’s prayer sanctuary. Before my grandfather’s passing, this is his wish, which is for my mother to finish it but because of her diagnosis, she does not have the strength or energy to put anything together. As a daughter, to see my mother so helpless yet still have a humbly heart, I wanted to help her with the cause and pay it forward. Our goal, is to raise $10,000 by the end of July. If you could, please find it in your heart to help us give back to our community in Cambodia. We would like to ask friends, family or any good Samaritans to help fulfill “A Mother’s wish.”
