NO WATER, NO LIFE!

“9.2 million People in Uganda do not have access to safe drinking water” – WaterAid America

Without access to safe water Uganda struggles to maintain their farming crops and earn a living, this is one of the main contributors to poverty. Another contributing factor is the large geographical feature – mountainous areas (Kigezi highlands- where we are based). While Uganda’s population is increasing, water is diminishing, making the average amount of water per person decrease significantly.

What is the problem?

“80% of diseases in Uganda are related to poor sanitation” - WaterAid Uganda

The main problems concerning water scarcity in Uganda are the diseases from drinking unclean drinking water, dehydration, the lack of sanitation, and agricultural problems (not enough water for irrigation). Many of these problems tie in to each creating more problems. Typhoid is a serious waterborne illness that is caused by the salmonella typhi bacteria, and is passed through the urine or feces of an infected person. This is a serious issue in Uganda because it is mainly due to their lack of sanitation.

Another problem brought about by water scarcity is dehydration. Water scarcity results in many people dying of dehydration. Diarrhea is one of the major causes of dehydration. Death due to diarrhea represents 17% of deaths among children under five out of a total of 11 million deaths annually in this age category.

“Over 12, 000 children die every year from diarrhea caused by unsafe water and sanitation in Uganda”– WaterAid America

What solution can we provide?

10 (ten) wells to start with, will help at least 7200 people in the communities have access to clean drinking water.

“35% of people do not have access to safe and clean drinking water in rural Uganda”

How can you help?

First: Make a donation for this project, 100% of the donations go directly to this cause.

Second: Share this project and link it with others and make them aware what we have taken for granted; we expect that the country we live will provide us the safest possible drinking water. But this is not the case throughout the world.

Consider how many people you can help with your small donation to give them clean drinking water.
