A Bright, Inviting Library For SCCS

My name is Margaret Vande Kraats, and I am an educator here at SCCS. I would like to share with you my vision for the future of the library at Sioux Center Christian School. As librarian and media specialist, I know that the use of space and the atmosphere of a school library is vital to its role as a hub for learning and working. It is my dream for the library at Sioux Center Christian School to become a bright, inviting place for all students.
Our current library space serves our student population well, but it has not been updated in many years. With your help, we will purchase new and updated tables, seating, a teaching carpet, as well as a new book cart. These items will help give the library a more current feel, with added flexibility regarding how the space in the library can be used. As the role of school libraries change, it is becoming vitally important for the library to be a space where small or large groups can gather to work and explore. The library needs to be able to accommodate multiple groups of students doing different things at the same time. We need spaces for quiet reading, as well as spaces for a whole class to learn together.
Consider Sioux Center Christian School’s mission: to disciple God’s children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play. The library at Sioux Center Christian School plays a large role in these equipping with knowledge and understanding tasks. Your contribution will help!

Remember ALL students (TK through 8th grade) at SCCS use the library on a regular basis so all students will benefit. With 340 donations of only $20 we could reach our goal! 340 is just a fraction of our 1300+ Facebook friends.
