Creating Our Own Transgender Center

Hello Everyone, My name is Octavia Y. Lewis, MPA and I'm an African American Women of Trans Experience.  I am reaching  out for assistance to create a Transgender Center in NYC where all Trans women especially Trans Women of Color will have a safe inclusive space that is conducive for them to thrive and live in their authentic truth unapologetically.  I need to raise funds in order to obtain my 501c3 status, a postal box, and a cubicle to begin to do the work.  I know the lived experiences of what Women of Trans Experience face as far as being alienated and ostracized from family and friends, commercialized/survival sex work, homelessness, and countless other disparities in which we face.  I do not believe in asking others nor strangers for funds but in this case, I must set aside my pride because we are dying in the streets.  Women of Trans experience are impacted far greater than any other demographic for contracting HIV and discriminated against in accessing education, employment, healthcare and housing accommodations.  it is my "Dream" that with this center they will be educated, enlightened, and prepared to face the challenges of the world.  No amount is too small or large and it all will be put towards making this Dream a Reality.  Thank you kindly, Octavia Y.
