Miracles for Miraculous Mason

Donation protected
My name is Megan Rogers and I am a single mother of two 3 year old amazing boys, Mason and Christopher. They are Irish twins(born 10 months apart) and share an incredible bond and love for one another that is not your average sibiling bond. Mason has special needs. He was born with congenital glaucoma and optic nerve hypolasia, he is blind. Mason was also born with 2 heart defects, Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) which were repaired through open heart surgery at 18 months old. Being blind is not his only challenge, he is globally and developmentally delayed but Mason is a miracle! Mason spent the first 28 days of his life in the NICU at Hershey Children's Hospital where doctors told me Mason would never walk or talk, but Mason has proved them wrong, he walks with a walker or holding my hand and has a small vocabulary (he can say Mama, brother, Nana, and Uh oh) When he was on a feeding tube they tried to tell me it would be indefinitely, he would need to be one a permanent one, but Mason eats table food, it has to go through a food processor but he can do it! Christopher is his brother's keeper. He is Mason's eyes, his nurturer, his protector, his best friend. The three of us have been through a lot together, we have faced many hardships on our journey, but you would never know it by how happy, joyous, and free my sons are.
Recently our car has broke down and it is a very expensive repair that I cannot afford on my own. I have used all my resources for Mason to try to find an organization or agency that could assist us but we have been unsuccessful. If you knew how busy Mason's life is, filled with appointments and therapies you would understand why this is so important. Mason has an eye doctor in Philadelphia at Wills Eye, which is 3 hours away from us, we go every three months to get his eye pressure checked , a cardiologist at Hershey Children's Heart Group, which is 2 hours from us and a special needs dentist in State College an hour away from us. On a weekly basis Mason goes to therapeutic preschool, he has physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, mobility therapy, vision therapy, and he goes to therapeutic horseback riding lessons. I truly believe that all these services have helped Mason get to where he is at today and he needs to continue. I need our car to be able to get him to all these places and transport his walker with him.
My sons are my world! People tell me everyday they don't know how I do it as a single parent and some days I don't either BUT God! I believe a mother's love is the fuel that enables the normal human being to do the impossible. I have had to lay my son Mason in a surgeon's arms on 3 different occasions for surgeries, I have slept upright in hospital chairs, I have listened to the beeping of machines and been thankful. I have smiled through tears and found strength when there wasn't any left. Some people will go their whole life without meeting their hero and I have given birth to mine! Please consider helping my family. The amount in our goal is the exact amount for the estimate I received from the garage where my car is located at Stout's Garage in Jersey Shore, PA. I truly appreciate any and all help we receive even if you can only share this! I couldn't have picked a better name for my son because Mason means strong and he is the strongest person I know and has taught me to never give up!
