After a devastating fire and many unexpected repairs, this family needs our help.
We need to Fix That House”
Just recently I have had the pleasure of meeting the owners of this home and had to hold myself together when I walked in and saw that there was no drywall on the walls, no flooring and exterior walls on the inside exposed bathroom is unfinished, the siding and the roof are still not completed.
After a fire in May 2013, the family had to stay in a hotel out of town while the insurance investigated the fire. The final outcome was that they just wanted to simply paint over the smoke damage and do very little work. The family had no choice but to try to complete the majority of the repairs themselves because contractor costs were too much for their single income budget.
During the process of gutting the walls they ran into major problems and the house would not pass inspection due to structural issues. The family had to move into a trailer until the structure was sound.
Also many walls needed rebuilding, the electrical panel and all of the wiring (which initially caused the fire), the main drain pipe needed repair and piping throughout the home, windows, the furnace along with duct work, insulation, kitchen cupboards, bathroom (still incomplete) and the roof. The settlement was no where enough to fix the problems.
So here I am, a neighbour down the street, pleading for help, I am looking for donations & volunteers to help this family of 5 rebuild their home & clean up the yard. This home is known as “That house on Richmond St.” Together we can say that is the Sampogna ‘s home.

Once we have our volunteers and materials to get the project started we will set up a dinner fundraiser to help cover the rest of the cost of fixing their home. Date and time to be announced soon.
