Jake's Stand Up to Cancer. GOAL MET

Donation protected

Friends and Family of Jacob (Jake,)
After a timultuous couple of weeks, Jacob was recently diagnosed with Non Hodgkins T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. It's an aggressive form of lyphoma cancer, most commonly diagnosed in children, that requires an incredibly intense chemotherapy regimine. He has a long, demanding road to recovery, but one that he won't be traveling along alone.

Before we go on, I just want to give a huge thank you to those who have already reached out with words of support, meals, hospital visits, just to name a few. Jake, Ang, Brynn, & Brooke feel so lucky to have the support of the Hoffman family and Hoffman Construction (Jacob's employer) who always have and will continue to make sure their family continues on as normal as possible. Randy & Karen, I can't tell you how thankful our family is for your generosity and the comfort you're providing them.

A little more about what this journey looks like... Even with medical insurance, the bills will be overwhelming. They are choosing the best doctors and facilities so he can beat this. He's getting one of a kind treatment and  we can't say enough good things about the care he's recieving while at UW Medical  Center. Jacob began his first round of chemo yesterday morning (6/23/15). These first doses of chemotherapy treament will keep him in the hospital for at least 4 weeks, while they monitor just about every system in his body. Once his permanent stay at UW is over (Yes!) he'll continue chemo for about 5 more months. For that duration of treatment, there will be times that he'll be required to stay within 30 minutes of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and UWMC. He's at risk of his white blood cells dropping dangerously low, which will result in a blood transfusion. Even a fever requires a 30 minute (or less) trip to UWMC. It's a tricky situation!  After his 6 months of aggressive treatment, it's possible for this cancer to take another 2 more years of monitoring before he's completely cured.

His wife, Angela, is dedicated to this treatment as much as Jacob is and she'll be taking a lot of time off of work to be by his side. Per the doctors, Jacob will need constant care and monitoring during his 5 months of outpatient treatment, preferrably from Ang.

The outreach of support has been huge, touching, overwhelming in the greatest way and we've had several mentions of a gofundme page, so here we are. Through this page, you can help contribute to gas expenses while they make the hour drive back and forth from UW & SCCA (too many times than we'd like to count,) Angela's lost wages, multiple hotel stays for when he'll need to be as close to his dr's as possible and, of course, medical bills. Most importantly, this will go towards a much needed peace of mind, wich we can probably all agree is priceless.

If you know Jacob well, it won't come as a surprise to you that setting up this page came with a lot of hesitation on his part.  For years, Jacob  has been proud to be able provide his  family with a happy , healthy life & the idea of accepting any sort of  charitible contributions has  come with a lot of reluctancy and  discomfort on his part. He's private and  prideful but, full of grattitude.

If you would like to visit Jake, send him something to keep him entertained, or send gas/grocery cards to their house, please feel free to send me a facebook message (Chelsey Nilson) and I'll get you any information you need.

On behalf of Jacob, Ang, Brynn, Brooke, and the rest of our family, we want to sincerely thank you for being a part of this journey with Jacob. He feels the love and your continued support will undoubtedly help keep up his momentum when he needs it most. We love you all!
