ADA Camp Carefree's Nature Program is raising money to bring The Center for Wildlife to Camp Carefree campers!
Emily Calhoun, Wildlife Education and Outreach Coordinator, will be coming to camp this year to present a "Who Lives in There: Tree Cavities for Wildlife" exhibit for all Camp Carefree campers.
This lecture includes exhibition and explanation of local wildlife creatures that live in tree cavities, many of which are animals we see while at camp! We'll get to meet Henry the porcupine, Opal the opossum, and a few of their bird friends! We'll get to meet another special raptor friend, Lady Willow (an Eastern screech owl) , and learn so much about the variety of New England species, their habitats, diets, calls, and tips on how to spot them in the wild. With focus on their importance in balancing prey populations, current challenges, and how to help. This demonstration will be hands-on, educational, and fun! Following the lecture, a question & answers session, up-close and touch-friendly "animal time", and much more!
Your donation will cover the cost of the presentation, and Center for Wildlife's mileage to come out and see us. Also, any additional funds will be donated directly to the Center for Wildlife, which helps orphaned and injured wildlife, and is run completely from personal and community donations.
ADA Camp Carefree is a camp for children ages 8-15 with Type 1 Diabetes. The mission of American Diabetes Association Camp Carefree is to provide a fun filled, educational camping experience for children with diabetes that will help them to develop and maintain active, healthy lifestyles.
