Surgery update: Mission not accomplished. Unfortunately, the surgery yesterday didn't get very far before internal bleeding began and the surgery was halted. Jonathan woke up in pain and unsure of what exactly had happened, with tubes draining blood from his lung.
The intended surgery was not carried out. Doctors stabilized him and controlled the bleeding. I'm not entirely sure of exact details or future plans, but this must be extremely frustrating to say the least.
He's awake and has had visitors. He's also been chatting a bit on Facebook, so thankfully he is lucid and functional.
Here's hoping that better news will come soon.

Hello All! It's been a long...
Hello All! It's been a long while since I last posted an update. Thankfully, that resulted from Jonathan having enough energy to keep up on social networks.
He'll be going into surgery today to remove a large mass in his chest that chemo and radiation weren't able to diminish.
Keep him in your thoughts and perhaps offer a kind word of encouragement. This setback is prolonging his ordeal beyond what we all had hoped for.
He stays so strong through everything, and I'm continuously proud of him for the grace he shows through the most difficult challenge of his life.
We all love you, Jonathan! We'll be waiting with all the hope we have to hear about the successful surgery.

Glad to hear that there's at least a little bit of improvement after the first shock of chemo. The awesome solidarity I've seen here in the last few days as donations trickle in is really moving. Honestly, it's a testament to the incredible person that Jon is. Those of you who know him in person know this, but I know it too. The only thing muddling everyone's generosity is that this horrible denigrating injustice is even possible in a supposedly developed country. Get better Jon, we <3 you.
