WWII Vets' Plaque--St Pius V, PVD

For 100 years Saint Pius the Fifth Church has been the home for a vibrant Catholic faith community in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Providence.  Since the Dominican Friars founded our parish in 1918, one year after they founded Providence College, Saint Pius the Fifth has accompanied five generations through the challenges of the Great Depression, World War II, the Cold War, and the advent of the 21st century.

You can be part of one important act we undertake now. We wish to redo our World War II Memorial Plaque to better honor our Veterans. The initial memorial was a product of lean times! Each name was inscribed on small steel plates and all 340 names were then arranged on a door. It was housed in our parish school for many years but we wish to make a better and more fitting display and install it in our church building.

In researching how we can do this we are looking for a very expensive project of $4,000. We envision individual brass plaques for each name all installed on a beautiful piece of wood, approximately 4 feet by 6 feet. Our great hope is to have this created and unveiled by Memorial Day this year. Would you consider helping us achieve this goal?

Thank you for considering this request.

Sincerely yours,

Rev. Augustine Judd, O.P.
