What is Pasties with a Purpose?
Pasties with a Purpose is a little digital store I have set up in order to raise money for two upcoming surgeries I need to have in August. 100% of the proceeds will go towards helping offset medical bills!
Wait....What? Surgery?!
Unfortunately!
Why??
I have had health issues ever since I was about sixteen years old. After landing in the emergency room on several occasions, I eventually went to a specialist to figure out what is going on. Last week, I was officially diagnosed with two diseases: endometriosis, and adenomyosis.
What are these diseases?
Both are chronic auto immune diseases. Endometriosis occurs when tissue that is suppose to line the uterus is found outside the uterus. This misplaced tissue develops into growths or lesions which respond to the menstrual cycle in the same way that the tissue of the uterine lining does: each month the tissue builds up, breaks down, and sheds. But the blood and tissue shed from endometrial growths has no way of leaving the body. This results in internal bleeding and the development of adhesions that basically stick my organs together and causes issues with a number of internal organs.
Adenomyosis does the exact same thing as endometriosis, except it occurs inside of the organ's walls instead of on the outside.
So....Why Surgery?
I will be undergoing two surgeries during the month of August. The first surgery will be a laparoscopy and will remove the adhesions and any tissue that shows edometriosis. They may also remove my appendix, my left ovary, and parts of my intestines if the endometriosis has progressed too far. The second surgery will be the second round of the endometriosis ablation. Grand total.....I'll be staying in the hospital for 24 hours each of the surgeries and will be out for 2 weeks after my second surgery.....basically the entire month of August will be a pain medication blur!
Well That Totally Blows....What Can I Do to Help?!
WELL! Medical bills are looming, and due to me being a full time student and my family not able to help with the cost....I need help.
I am offering handmade, Swarovsky rhinestone pasties in exchange for a $30 donation!

Why not?! Endometriosis and Adenomyosis are both diseases that only affect women....and what's more feminine than wearing a fancy accessory for our ta-tas??

Some of you may know this about me.....but I do NOT ask for help easily. I've always been able to take care of myself, but sometimes....you need to let others in to give you a hand.

But for those of you who read all the way to the end....thank you. Thank you for caring enough to read this and understand a little of what is going on right now. It's been a very long, painful road. And I'm hoping these surgeries will finally give me some relief, even if it is for a few years.
