Sea Shepherd Legal formed in late 2014 to address these concerns.  Its  mission is to save marine wildlife and habitats by enforcing, strengthening, and developing protective laws, treaties, policies, and practices worldwide.  It is the only organization dedicated strictly to global ocean protection through litigation, policy development and public outreach.  Its work complements the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's renowned direct action campaigns.

From working to end the illegal poaching of sharks for their fins and stopping the brutal killing of pilot whales in the Faroe Islands, to encouraging International Whaling Commission reform and pursuing the establishment of legal rights for wildlife,  Sea Shepherd Legal is developing a diverse and unprecedented case docket. 

As a new organization, Sea Shepherd Legal urgently needs your support to continue its ongoing projects such as encouraging U.S. agencies to enhance protections for sharks and cetaceans, partnering with environmental prosecutors from multiple Latin American countries to develop stronger marine protective laws, and working to halt efforts to undermine the international moratorium on whaling.
