Wheelchair Van for Robbie

Donation protected
My name is Robbie Weaver and I have Multiple Sclerosis, commonly known as MS. MS is a chronic, unpredictable and potentially disabling disease that attacks the Central Nervous System. MS causes the body’s immune system to slowly attack the cells that surround and protect the Nervous System, including the spinal cord and brain. When these cells are damaged, the nerves become exposed and cause difficulty for the brain to send signals to the rest of the body. MS can cause vision problems, bladder and bowel dysfunction, pain, numbness and weakness of the limbs, loss of balance and coordination, paralysis, etc. At this time, there is no cure for MS.

Prior to being diagnosed with MS, I was very active. During my teen years, I played basketball at Harris Co. High School, in Hamilton GA., from which I graduated, in 1986. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, from Troy State University and later my Master’s degree, in Early Childhood Education. I worked for the Harris Co. Board of Education, in Hamilton, GA and Muscogee Co. School District, in Columbus, GA. For many years, I served as an Usher, at Longstreet Baptist Church, in Cataula, GA. I enjoyed going to the movies, going out to eat and spending time with family and friends.

Since being diagnosed with MS, I have faced various medical, physical and social challenges. I have had to make many adjustments, in order to conform to a new and different way of living. Currently, I am wheelchair bound and require daily assistance. Because I don’t have adequate transportation to accommodate my wheelchair, I am confined to my home, with the exception of going to Dr. Appointments. Accepting and living with MS and the effects of it, takes tremendous strength, but in spite of my illness, my Faith is strong and I am able to maintain a positive attitude, by the Grace of God.

I established my GOFUNDME campaign, with hope and prayer of being able to purchase a wheelchair accessible van, which would greatly facilitate me with being able to get out and enjoy life, once again. Words, truly, cannot express the joy it would bring for me to be able to participate in life, again.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my story. I am very grateful and thankful for life and know that God does not make mistakes.
