Wezi Medical Center (WMC) is a start-up medical facility offering a wide range of clinical medical services for Mzuzu City and Northern region community.
The Wezi Medical Center (WMC) Project was founded early this year of 2015 when a number of concerned Mzuzu citizens started searching for a solution to the lack of a proper world class hospital in Mzuzu. It was realized that Mzuzu and the Northern Region at large lacked a medical facility that fully caters for the variety of medical ailments that affect us. Currently if one suffers from an incommunicable disease or cancers for example, one has to travel to Blantyre or Lilongwe to get treatment.
The first target is for the team to raise MK26 million ($60,000) to be used in the construction of the foundation of WMC.
To kick start this massive project, a fund raising committee has been set up which comprises of the following Mzuzu based citizens: Chairperson - Mrs. Zohra Matundu; Vice Chairperson and Treasurer – Mr. Ken Malema; Secretary -Mrs Karim and the following team members - Mrs. Anna Keys, Mrs. Florence Lungu, Mrs. Dorothy Shaba; Mrs. Chigo Chokani; Miss Wezi Mzumara; Mr. Othaniel Hara; Mrs. Lestina Nhlema; Mr. Raymond Midaya; Mrs. Phiri; and Mr. Taonga Mtegha.
