Toriana's Liver Transplant/ Expense

Toriana A. Douglas is a 9 year old native of Darlington,SC. She attends St.John's Elementary School where she is currently on homebound. Her mother is employed with Darlington County School District as a teacher assistant at St. John's Elementary School. At 2 weeks of age, Toriana was diagnoised with Biliary Atresia. Biliary Atresia is when common biled ducts are blocked or damaged, and makes it impossible for bile to flow. Biliary Atresia is the most common reason for liver transplants in children. Biliary Atresia has NO CURE and no unknown cause. The transplant team at MUSC in Charleston, SC says that she will be needing a transplant. She is currently taking 13 different types of medication and travels to MUSC numerous times for docotor's appointment for frequent blood work, ulrasounds,liver scans and biopsy. She also has Portal Hypertension, Sleepapnea, Hyperbilirubinemia, and constipation that is caused by Biliary Atresia. After the transplant, she is looking to stay at least 1 to 3 months in Charleston, SC at a hotel due to having to visit the clinic twice a week to make sure her body is not rejecting the new liver.
The Make A Wish Foundation sponsored her a trip to Disney World for 7 days , she had a great time. Her primary physicians are Dr.Keith & Dr. Bardi @ Eastern Carolina Pediatrics. Toriana states, " that if she had one more wish it would be to normal." We are asking for your support and help with Toriana's after surgery expenses and all some of the expenses before the surgery such as gas ,etc while going to and from Charleston on a regular. Her family and friends are also putting together varies fundraisers to also help out. We are also asking for your PRAYERS. Thanks so much and GOD BLESS.
