Warriors for John McHugh

"You have cancer."

The three scariest words that anyone could ever hear.  You never imagine that it could be you. But on August 23, John and his parents heard those three dreaded words, and life as they knew it changed forever.

John was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. This diagnosis entails a grueling schedule of chemotherapy for a minimum of 2 years. He will spend the first 90 days at Boston Children's Hospital undergoing his first round of intensive chemotherapy. This treatment will be aggressive and will also involve massive doses of steroids.

When you're 15 years old, you're supposed to worry about school, pretty girls, who you're picking for your fantasy draft, while counting down the days until you get your license. You shouldn't have to worry about your white blood cell count, losing all of your hair, and the other side effects of chemotherapy.

John's parents, Bill and Kristen's main focus is to be by their son's side while he undergoes treatment. They shouldn't have to worry about whether or not they can afford to keep their house while their son is fighting for his life.  They shouldn't have to stress about the $300 it costs to simply park at the hospital each month. They are already stressed enough fearing for their son's life, they shouldn't have to stress over the endless medical bills and making ends meet. Bill shouldn't have to think about stepping away from his second job so that John isn't alone during the day while he is going through this traumatic time.

One of John's nurses at Children's Hospital was wearing a shirt that simply said "Cancer may have started the fight..." but we are sure as hell going to finish it.

So we are asking you to join us as John's Warriors and finish this fight with us. John isn't alone, his family isn't alone. It's going to take an army to fight back, but we're going to kick this cancer's butt.
