My Dam Guardian Fund

Donation protected
Hey friends, family, fellow activists and allies to pacific Northwest sea life - I have made the decision to become an active member of a campaign that is a Union between Oregon's Sea Lion Defense Brigade and the International Sea Shepherd.

To break it down, the salmon run has started and the California & Steller Sea lions are targeted, hazed, branded with hot irons and brutally killed for eating what they have always known to keep them healthy and living. While understanding that fisher people rely on salmon for their living, the sea lions consume a tiny fraction (less than four precent) of the salmon population endangered by commercial fishing, dam turbines and pollution. and I'll be joining a group of folks to monitor and document what happens to the sea lions with the hope that the vigilance will deter some of the brutality. Every sea lion counts!

The "Dam Guardian" campaign commenced in march and will go until the end of May. I am choosing to go one full week in April and another in May. I will be taking time away from my job at Red and Black to be on site in Astoria.
Sea Shepherd does not provide any financial support as far as travel and lodging, so I am asking my community and supporters of the campaign to assist me if you feel compelled to do so. All funding will be spent on lodging, sharing gas with other volunteers.

Luckily I'm much closer in than many dedicated volunteers who are coming from all around the country and don't have to fly in or anything. Any money unused will be given to other Dam Guardian campaign workers for their living costs.

Also, while Sea Shepherd is a 501-c3, donations made to my volunteer fund are not tax deductible.

Note: I do not one hundred back the figureheads of Sea Shepherd's philosophy outside of Animal and Environmental causes, but believe that most of Sea Shepherd's campaigns are incredibly important and effective.
