From a young age I have always been a curious person. As time progressed, and I grew older, not much really changed. Today I devote much of my time and all of my passion into exploring and photographing the intoxicating world around me. I document its venerable weirdness – and chronicle everything that I believe makes life so special. As someone who has always felt like an outcast, this practice has proven very therapeutic to me. Not only do my travels help me to better understand the greater world around me, but it has given my life a much more focused purpose.
Four years ago I started a blog called Obscure Vermont. It was a place where I could write about all of the amazing things I have discovered. As it would turn out, other people really seemed to like what I was doing, and that really meant the world to me. however, Obscure Vermont was never a business venture for me, and at its core it remains what it was when I first created it - An obsessive hobby. As such, it really doesn't generate much revenue. So when something goes wrong, it can prove quite a disastrous setback. Which leads me to the reason for writing my story here today.
My trusty old computer, which has admittedly been struggling to meet my needs over the years, has finally passed away. Sadly this unexpected event has put me in a tough situation, one in which I'm not financially able to escape from. The lack of a computer means I am unable to continue with Obscure Vermont for the foreseeable future. This has proven a very hard blow for me, as I've stated above, my blog means a lot to me.
I'm not the best at reaching out to people for help, and frankly this feels very foreign to me, but after numerous suggestions from several friends I've decided to start this fundraiser. I hope it can aid me in escaping this rut I find myself in, and to come closer to achieving my goal of purchasing a new computer which can meet my needs. If that happens, I can once again continue working, researching, writing, and reactivate Obscure Vermont.
