Returning from his daughter Kristin 's beautiful wedding In San Marcos, Mark and "grandad" we're full of joy.
In a blinding downpour a sudden enormous surge of high water mud and debris hit the car like a title wave, and THREW it into the flood.
The car filled with water. Mark pushed his dad out the window onto a tree.
Mark wants all to Please know that
Kenneth did NOT
suffer , was not "scared"
was calm,
did NOT drown .....did say "well mark , this may be it" and "Mark just let me go son"
"NO DAD I WILL NOT LET YOU GO"
Mark held on to him and the tree. The water crashed down on them over the car.
Mark protected his father and did not let go.
For more than an hour
Debris pounded them.
Kenneth passed quietly in mark's arms. Probably his heart just gave out. After over another hour , Kenneth was wrenched from his arms by the raging waters.
Mark dove into the black water, praying "God my life is in your hands." Every lighting strike he allowed the torrent to thrash and push him to another tree , searching,
screaming for his dad ,but knowing in his heart that he was gone.
Mark was thrown
further and further from the truck and help.
After five trees he knew he could not make another try, and grabbed the closest tree and hung on. Arms and legs numb, exhaustion and hypothermia set in. Violent shaking chills and pain. There in the water with debris crashing against him , prayed and he held on.
God spared him just moments before he could hold on no more.
We are slow and shocky
Mark has lots of pain.
His body beat badly by debris. Heart strained , had kidneys are damaged.
we don't know when the waves of grief and nightmares will slow down.
Five days later he was again hospitalized 5 days with SEPSIS and chronic kidney failure.
FEMA is NOT able to help us. Mark is not able to work. We need help with rent and medical bills.
To all those whose hands and hearts were used by God to save Mark,
guided buy the Holy Spirit, empowered by Christ Jesus , we give thanks.
