Volunteering to help make Star Trek
Friends, family, colleagues, I come before you with a problem. I am a part of a fan produced and fan funded organization that makes episodes of Star Trek for the web*. Every year, myself and a couple of hundred others, get together for 2 weeks in a little town in the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York, and make an episode of our web series**. The materials, know-how, and desire are all donated by us, the volunteers, and people like you.
This year I, and some others, are in danger of not being able to contribute our efforts towards this year's endeavor. I am having real trouble being able to afford to travel to and stay at this year's shoot. I found out that four others in our extended “family” are also having trouble with our expenses this year. If you could help us, we would be eternally grateful. Anything at all that you can spare to aid us, will be appreciated. The money raised will be distributed equally among the 5 of us so that we can attend this year's shoot. Once our shortfalls in accommodations are covered, the rest of the money (if any) will be contributed to the shoot. It is embarrassing to me to have to ask for help like this, but if I don't, this shoot won't happen for us.
