Jonna, John & Roscoe's Home Fund

Donation protected
As some of you may or may not know, our dear friends Jonna and John (and Roscoe) have fallen on difficult times. With the loss of John's job and the exceedingly high medical bills Jonna has been saddled with, they have been unable to stay afloat. Due to their tough financial situation, they have recently been evicted from their home of eight years, in Seattle, and now face a life of uncertainty. No one should ever have to face being homeless and it's even more heartbreaking to watch two people who we all know and love go through this terrible situation. Jonna and John are two of the most giving, big-hearted, loyal, supportive, loving spirits. Never to ask for a handout, but always there to help a friend in need. If we can't help our own, what kind of person does that make us? It's time to pay it forward and do what we can to help this amazing couple gain some stability, find a new home, new job and a new life. Whatever you can contribute, no matter how big or small, will make a difference.

Below is a letter from Jonna describing in a bit more detail their situation:

"This might be the hardest thing I've ever had to say in my life- My friends and family, John, Roscoe and I really need your help!

It breaks my heart to tell you all that John and I have fallen on hard times and are being evicted from the house we have loved and called home for the last 8 years. Sadly, this has become reality and we have to be out on THIS Wed the 27th.

Some of you know what's going on, but for others who do not, I will tell you now. John lost his long term job as a Physical Therapy Asst at an assisted living facility last year, since then, he hasn't been able to find a permanent job, just working for a temp agency which doesn't pay well or give him enough work.

Then, last year in June, I fell and damaged my knees up really bad, and was out of work. Next, in December, most of you will remember, I went into the hospital for emergency gallbladder removal, that was lovely, let me tell ya- out of work for 2 months for recovery, on top of the time I missed due to being so sick before surgery. I missed a LOT of work last year!

Now I find out the my lovely insurance company, United HealthCare, doesn't want to cover much of the $70,000 bill that I have due to the length of the stay, 6 days- and a 6 hour surgery. Did I tell you how much fun that was?

So we've struggled to pull in our rent every month, thankfully we have wonderful family who has helped us monetarily as well as with emotional support, which I have needed a whole hell of a lot of.

We begged our landlords to let us have a roommate multiple times, to no avail. These are people who rented to us on my rental history, with my last tenancy of 9 years alone, without even checking any references or credit! 17 yrs of rental history now erased by an eviction, it's killing me.

Sadly, if you live here, you know what's going on with the price of rent in the city, it's out of control and, I believe, is adding to the homeless population, in which we are about to become!

We have been searching for anything in a price range that we can afford, nada. Or there is, but they don't take dogs or dogs over 45lbs! My boy, Roscoe, weighs in a beautiful 108lbs, snuggler. He's the sweetest, wussy Mama's boy you've ever met, but no one cares because you can't carry him around under your arm! He's no clutch bag, that's for sure.

So here we are. We have to be out of this house on Wed, THIS Wed! No place to live and no leads on a place we can afford, let alone who wants to take us with a fucking eviction on our names?! Big dog in tow. Living in the Volvo.

We really need some help, guys. We need some help trying to get our life, everything we own, into storage by Wed and maybe a place to stay until we can find a place that will have us or a place that will have us. Maybe even help trying to get everything packed would help, a lot, it's super overwhelming, to say the least.

If you read all of this, I thank you from bottom of my giant hockey heart, which is severely broken into more pieces than I can count, seriously, THIS was the home of our dreams, and it's now gone. Please, if you can do anything to help us out, we will be forever grateful.
