I need surgery ASAP .........
After 18months of being misdiagnosed with MS, last December it was finally discovered that I actually have a macro-adenoma tumour on my Pituitary Gland which has caused a very rare disease called Acromegaly (way too much growth hormone being produced). This has resulted in crippling headaches, double vision, fatigue, muscle weakness and the inability to drive or even work at the moment. I am on very strong pain killers to try and ease the symptoms while waiting for my brain surgery. Spoke with the specialist today (10th March 2017) and she reinforced that I need surgery urgently. I am now on the URGENT priority list and hope to have my surgery in the next 2-8 weeks. This will consist of airfares to Sydney (as I am unable to travel very far in car), transfers, accomodation for 3-4 weeks in Sydney and food. Thankfully Medicare are paying for my surgery and hospital stay but I have to pay to stay in Sydney for a further 3-4 weeks post surgery for all the follow ups. They don't want me travelling quickly back home due to the remote location and possible complications that often occur.
In addition to this, I am not working and although my husband is working 2 jobs, it will still be difficult to meet our financial obligations.
Every dollar raised will make a difference. Anyone who knows me,knows that I have spent the last 9 years actively fundraising for many charitable organisations in my community including Cystic Fibrosis, Can Assist, Cancer Council, MS and many more. This is the first time I have ever had to ask for help for myself. I need this surgery so badly as I would love the opportunity to get back my normal, pain free life.
