Send Valerie to Uganda

I hope that God is doing as many wonderful things in your life as He is in mine. I am having a wonderful senior year at Stafford High School, and feeling God's will to do more for the world around me.

The beginning of my senior year, I, like any other high school senior looked into my options for the future. I looked into several colleges and my local community college to see what could provide me with the best opportunity to pursue my goal to become a pediatric nurse.

I finally decided on enlisting into the army to become a nurse. Just when I thought I had my future planned out for me, God offered an opportunity I never would have thought to consider before.

From this coming August (2015) through May 2016, God has offered me the chance to go to Mbale, Uganda, to become a primary teacher at the Tyler Academy. I will be teaching Pre-K through 5th grade to both local national and missionary children. I will also be enriching their education with a christian education. I will also be assisting in administrative work and networking. Upon arrival I will be assisting with the construction of an additional wing to the school by converting a house into a school.

Let me clarify that this is not a vacation, this is mission work. This 9 month mission trip will be an amazing opportunity to use my gifts to teach and spread the gospel to the Ugandan students, while also learning more about the people and their culture. While God has opened up a door for me to develop a greater heart of compassion for His people around the world, the exciting part is that you will be able to share in this compassion in several ways. First, you can help pray for me and the mission. I will need prayers that God will prepare me for my visit and bless the efforts as I teach and minister to the Ugandan students.

I will also need prayers that the financial needs to complete this mission will be met. At this time I need to raise $13,000 to participate in this trip, and that is quite a challenge! I will need to raise most of my funds by late July 2015 in order to pay for airline tickets and other items. The cost to live in Uganda is approximately $1,000 a month which includes rent, food, and the necessities to live. In addition to the $9,000 needed to live in Uganda, I must also cover the cost of the plane trip to and from, new wardrobe, moving costs, shots, passport update, teaching supplies, a laptop, and other costs that add up. Whether you are able to provide a one-time donation or a monthly donation, I appreciate all support. Please make checks payable to Fredericksburg Church of Christ or use the link gofundme.com/val2UG.

Whether you feel led to contribute financially, through prayer, or both, all of your support is appreciated. Thank you for becoming a partner in my mission. It means so much to me to know I am not alone on this mission. I look forward to doing God's work in Africa and letting you know all about how God has worked through me when I return in May.

God Bless and thank you for becoming a partner in such a great mission,
Valerie Love Oliver
