Hi! I'm Moriah I have Lupus & JRA.

My name is Moriah, many people think I was named for Mariah Carey. It was really chosen from the Bible. The Land of Moriah was the place where God tested Abraham's faith. We use our faith every day to help us to understand things that don't make any sense at all.
I starting getting sick a long time ago and doctors had no idea what it was. A little over 3 years ago they diagnosed me with Lupus, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia. They are immune problems. My immune system attacks my tissue. It causes a lot of pain in my joints. They are also attacking my organs. I've been blessed with wonderful parents who have tried almost everything to get me back to good health.

My biological parents are from Haiti. My mom was pregnant when she got in a raft and took a dangerous ride to come to the United States. My bio-mom knew there was little chance for her to survive in the US with a baby. She thought it was best for both of us to let me be adopted. Mr. & Mrs. Gary Goode adopted me the day I was born. They are the only parents I've ever known. How blessed I am to have their love and care.

Mom and Dad used Hope as my middle name, because one day I will take hope back to the people of Haiti. They never dreamed that they would need hope to find a cure for Lupus when they adopted me.

There no cure for this disease. We have been trying to treat my symptoms. I've been prescribed a gazillion of medicines, most of them I can't even pronounce! One of my treatments is chemotherapy. Sometimes I think the side effects are worse than the disease.

My last treatment option is a stem cell transplant. The FDA has not approved the treatment I need in this country, so my mom and I went to Mexico on May 18, 2013.

My second treatment was the last of 2013. My treatment costs $30,000. The doctor is planning to help my family with a payment plan. But it may take us more than a lifetime to pay for it.
That's why we are asking for help.

Any donation will be greatly appreciated. If all you have is prayer and love to give we will gladly accept that, too.

As of April 1, 2014, Hopee4Moriah/GiveMoriahLife has raised $22,000.

May God Bless everyone and especially those who are keeping us in their prayers.

Love,
Moriah Hope Goode
