Asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh

Allah says in suratul Baqara ayah 155-157:

"And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,

Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah , and indeed to Him we will return."

Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided."

Inna lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi Raaji'oon

On May 19, 2015 at around 1 a.m in the morning Allah tested the Toronto Muslim community with the loss of AbdiWeli Mohamed Yusuf after a fatal shooting.
Police are still investigating as to who the killer is, but the family will not rest until justice is served.

Indeed it came as an extreme shock to his family and close friends as it was a random shooting. AbdiWali was a very loving, caring, compassionate and hard working young man who worked two jobs to provide for his new family. And most importantly, all can attest to the fact that he loved Allah & his messenger pbuh.

The initial shock and sadness only increases and deepens the pain when one realizes that he left behind a wife ,  Surer (Suraya) Isse , with an unborn child still in her womb as he only got married two months ago.

This 'GoFundMe' page has been set up as a donation to cover any outstanding debts and to help his family pay for his burial and the costs associated with it.  The rest that is collected will be deposited into his family account and for his wife and unborn child. It is the least that we can do to perhaps alleviate even only a little of the pain and suffering his family is going through.

The prophet pbuh said:

"... Allah helps a servant as long as he helps his brother..." (Muslim)

So please be generous in your donations.  Also...

"Among the actions and good deads for which a believer will continue to receive reward after his death are knowledge which he taught and spread, a good/pious son whom he left behind, ...."

[Ibn Majah and Baihaqi]

From amongst the things mentioned is "a good/pious son whom he left behind". The point being made here is that a pious son will pray for his deceased father. This is in no way limited to a son or a pious son/daughter. It just highlights the fact that the reward reaches the deceased when any person prays for him.

We request you all to make sincere du'a for him, as nothing can benefit him right now other than that and good deeds.

JazakumAllahu khayran
