My Name is Barry Peters (Basa Pete on youtube). I live in Pine Grove, Nova Scotia, Canada. I've been to Nepal many times. On my very first trip there, I met Owen (Smiler) Blackwell of England. We met on a mountain trail. Owen was carrying a large, red toolbox. "Strange?" I thought.
As I later found out: Owen and his wife, and their young son, live part of the year in England and part of the year in Nepal. They have a house there. His wife is Nepalese. The story of how she and Owen met is fantastic.
Owen is quite a great man to the mountain people of Nepal. He has personally raised money to build schools, orphanages and toilets in remote mountain villages. He has also created his toolbox fund: In England, his family and friends donate tools. Then, on his next visit to Nepal, he hand delivers a full toolbox to a remote mountain village. That's how I met him.
They were in Nepal when the big earthquake hit. I'm happy to say, they are all safe and sound. However, his wife's village was totally distroyed.
Owen is now back in England, trying to raise money to help his beloved mountain people of Nepal. They desperately need our help.

Hi, I'm back in the UK. We're collecting money and rice. We sent one truck up the mountain already. My wife's cousin is trying to get a bus up the mountain full of stuff. The Nepalese Gurkha community of Derby are buying metal sheets and sending them in. I got my brother In law looking for a box of nails. They were all. British Legion promised 50,000 to the Gurkha well fare trust. I went to their national conference this weekend. I got back on Friday into the UK.
