We CAN Change Their Life! Urgent

Spende geschützt
Meet Rodriguez, Monika and Tchaly.

Without your help they could miss out on an opportunity to change their lives..

Rodriguez, at 12 years old, dreams of working with electricity. Electricity is a rare treat in his house and he is always curious about how things work, making electrical connections and building things from cardboard and found materials. Smart and resourceful he will never claim to be bored.

Monika is 10 years old and dreams of becoming a doctor or a ballerina. Active and caring it’s no doubt she could do both, given the opportunity to try.

Tchaly is 7 years old and, like any boy his age, wants to be just like his big brother. He was also quoted saying, “I like to work out.”

I met Amy Van Horn in our hometown of Pocatello, ID, when we were young and we became classmates in highschool. In the years after graduation I heard stories from Amy and other friends describing the work she was doing.

It started years ago when Amy visited Leogane, Haiti, on a relief mission with her Church. Leogane was the epicenter of the devastating earthquake in 2010.

There she volunteered in an orphanage and found so much love she knew she would come back. She wanted to be a changing force for these kids and she wanted them to know lasting relationships.

For the next four years Amy spent 4 months a year in Haiti, working through the year to afford the trip herself. She held fundraisers to bring supplies to the orphanage and spent her time helping in any way she could.

These trips usually supplied doctor visits, clothing, feminine hygiene and soap. Everyday needs that weren’t available.

There Amy met Rodriguez, Monika and Tchaly.

These little souls needed her, and she needed them. Amy decided to move to Haiti, to live her life with them full time. She worked hard to provide for them as she could, acting as their caretaker and removing them from their difficult situation. Amy cared for them but maintained a relationship as a second mom, not removing them from their Haitian life and family connections.

Amy, Rodriguez, Monika and Tchaly are living in Haiti sharing a home with three other roommates. Without electricity, they pump and haul and boil water for cooking, washing and daily necessity. Their nights are lit with kerosene lamps and their days are busy driving thirty minutes to the nearest English school, five people piled on one motorcycle.

The education system in Haiti posed more problems for Amy and her kids. School is taught in French, the language of the upper class, but her kids speak Haitian Creole and English. School in Haiti is also costly and practices violent punishments. Because of this Amy placed the children in an English homeschool program taught by missionaries through a DVD program.

Now, seven years later, Amy has found a way to move back to the states and offer her home as a Host Parent for the children she loves while giving them a chance at a real education and motivation to chase their potentials.

But this opportunity is fleeting and her hopes to offer Rodriguez, Monika and Tchaly the education they deserve will be lost if there isn’t enough money raised by August 15, 2017.

Money is needed to help with costs of relocating, housing and tuition as international students.

As international students from Haiti, the only option available for their Visa is to attend private schools. Amy has choosen a private Christian school and tuition must be paid before school starts.

Having used her own funds for the past seven years, taking small jobs whenever possible to support these children and remain in their lives, Amy needs help to make this happen.

Because of this I have decided to try and help raise funds to bring Amy and these children to the states. I want to help provide them with the means for success as they deal with the transition to a completely new life, in a very different place that will offer them the knowledge to succeed and reach for their dreams.

Please help us raise money to pay their tuition and help Amy to give more to Rodriguez, Monika and Tchaly. Any extra funds will assist with relocation costs and school supplies.
