Self-publishing is a bear.  There's editing services, advertising, publishing, distribution, and book signings. Without crowdsourcing, books don't fly off the shelf, they grow cobwebs.  

This book is too important.  It tells the story of how the human race would react in the event of a global catastrophe.  A completely random, haphazard astronomical event renders the world without power.  The way technology has divided us, it's easy to imagine that the religious fundamentalists will proclaim it's the end of the world:  revelations, the battle of Armageddon.  To the rest of us, it would require self-sacrifice, social contracts, and working together.

This is the world Adam Dawson suddenly finds himself in.  As he tries to connect with his father, stranded 500 miles away in Chicago, he has to avoid the hoards of religious fundamentalists, led by a Pat Robertson-type evangelist, who have decided that Adam's father is the Anti-Christ.

Adam's no hero.  He's just a messed up twenty-three year-old, trying to get out from his father's shadow, and decide who he is.  The global catastrophe reveals that.
