Just reading Jen's own words speaks to the type of person that she is and the person she represents <3 She has been such a Blessing to so many people ... and now we want to give back to her! "I recently heard the words NO ONE wants or expects to hear....."You have Cancer!"
Yes, at the age of 30 I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, invasive ductal carcinoma to be exact. It's still pretty hard to stomach, but as I type this I'm surrounded by the multiple breast cancer books, folders, handouts and guides for the newly diagnosed to confirm my situation.
The initial reaction......my heart sunk to my stomach, tears flooded my eyes and more than anything shock & disbelief. Before I had time to process my diagnosis, I was set up with a surgeon the following day. Dr. Brown provided us with some reassuring news. I am a stage one & double positive, both of these are great! I am still waiting the results of other hormone markers to know the exact plan of treatment. For now I have LOTS of upcoming tests. MRI, pre-surgical lab work, appt. with an oncologist, surgery(lumpectomy & removal of lymph nodes to make sure the Cancer hasn't spread), & radiation (5x a week for 6 weeks.)
It all sounds pretty overwhelming typed out, but I feel very positive about my situation. I have Faith and Fight to get through this!
I know this is HIS plan and possibly the purpose is to impact others and educate them on early detection?!?!? If so, I feel the handful of people who told me they scheduled their dreaded annual appointments because of me is a start. I want this to be a positive journey, & one that will make me stronger at the end of it. Will it be hard? Of course!!!! But anything worth having, is worth fighting for!!
I don't want to be treated differently, I don't want to change my busy & active lifestyle...... I just plan to add to it, as long as I am able!
The support I have received from my husband, Momma, friends, family & FitFam go far beyond anything I have ever imagined. I guess you never know how big of a support system you have until you need them & WOW, I am already speechless...... So THANK YOU to all of you!!!!
