Mr. Predmore's Class Trip to Japan

I am an science teacher at Lake Worth Community High School in Lake Worth Florida. This is a typical title 1 school with a large majority of students in a lower socioeconimic class than most. It is this reason why I chose to start taking students on trips through educational tour companies (primariliy EF tours).
I was fortunate to grow up as a US military dependent. My father was an Army soldier for 25 years and we were station throught out most of Europe. It was my parents belief that traveling to and visiting other countires was a very valuable part of my education. I too have adopted that idea and brought it forth with my desire to give my students the opportunity to travel abroad and visit other culutures and countries. Most of these kids have hardly traveled out of the state much less out of the country. This makes trips that much more exciting and in a lot of cases a lot more terrifying for them.
Their largest obstacle, or opportonity, is to figure out a way to pay for the trip with out it being a huge burden on their families. I typically plan these trips 12months prior to travel dates, this allows the kids to begin working and paying off the trip in easy to handle small payments. Still they all need some help usually from family members and other sources.
Travel is one of the greatest ways to enlighten kids to our over all global community. It broadens their horizons. It further inspires them to achieve more than wha tthey could have prior.
