Diabetic Amputee/Family needs Help!

Donation protected
Years ago Jay was diagnosed as a Diabetic. He tried to keep a handle on it as best as he could without medical insurance. Most of the medical supplies (Insulin, needles, oral medication, etc) was all paid for out of pocket along with Medical bills from hospitals and doctors.

Unable to pay for all of the medication needed to keep his Diabetes under control, he started to develop diabetic ulcers on his feet. They would last for months and were very painful.

On  May 5th 2015 Jay had his big toe and a portion of his foot amputated off. He developed an Ulcer on his big and it got infected because he continued to work on it to provide for his family.  He came home May 13th and is expected to be off work for a few months.

We really need temporary help providing for our family until we can get back on our feet. We were denied several times for government help (although we keep trying) and I only have two semesters left until I graduate with an Associate’s degree from Columbus State. We just need enough help to get us by these next few months of his recovery.

Our bills are piling up and we've borrowed all the money we can from friends/relatives. This is our last hope before our family is forced to split into different homes because we'll eventually be evicted. (June 1st is when we owe rent, not sure how long we actually have before they remove us!)

Please, if you can spare a few extra dollars, it would make all the difference in the world to us!

QUICK FACTS:

** Although this emergency just happened, the ulcers on his feet have caused him to miss a lot of work during March and April and this is why we need the amount of money we do.

**He does have Medicaid. (Does not cover the costs of everything)

The funds will be used for:

1) Anything Medicaid won't cover

2) June's Rent ($550)

3) Current / Over-due Utilities (A little less than $600 now for water, gas, and Electric due by the end of this month)

4) Partial Colleges expenses. (I’m covered for tuition and books through FAFSA but I have to pay for internet each month to access half my classes and Adobe Creative cloud to do my assignments.) ((We owe for last month and this month for Internet and Adobe CC ($115 and $44))

5) Food (We have to stick to a diabetic/heart healthy diet which means less ((cheap)) processed foods and more ((expensive)) fresh/organic foods.) (Usually about $100 a week for the 3 of us)

6) Household expenses (Dog food, Toilet paper, dish/body Soap, Laundry detergent, trash bags etc.) (about $75-100 a month)

7) Gas (to get to and from Doctors appointments, School, Grocery store) (About $40-$60 a week depending on gas prices and where we have to go.)

What we are doing to help ourselves

((Jay cannot put pressure on his foot until mid-June so someone has to stay at home with him to help him around the house with whatever he needs. Our 3 year old daughter is also not enrolled in daycare because we cannot afford it so she needs cared for as well. Summer semester starts May 25th so I will be in classes all day Wednesday and Monday night.))

So with all that in mind, I’m trying to find work from home jobs (hard to find legit ones that require little to no experience) so I can take care of them both. I’ve also been applying for at home/paid internships to bring in some money.

My application for Food Stamps, OWF program and daycare are pending.

I’ve found a list of Food Pantries in my Area that we've visited a couple times now but we can't accept a lot of what they offer because most of it is sweets or expired.

I’ve also been researching anything “financial help” related to see what other options we have.

*** If any one has any questions about our situation just ask!

*** If anyone has any advice for us, we are open to suggestions!
