Clean water for Haiti refugees

Donation protected

At this very moment, there are roughly 450 Haitian refugees including 300 clothless and shoes children living on the secluded island of Port Plume off the Haiti/Dominican Republic border.Right now, they have no access to clean water and are going days without eating; children are dieing! Through Tiffany's research, she located the help of a not for profit group called Garden Pool from Mesa Arizona. As soon as $10,000-$15,000(needed by the end of May) in donations are raised, this group will go to the island and give the tools, skills, resources, education and training necessary for the people to grow their own food, raise egg-producing and milk- producing animals, maintain a greenhouse and a garden-pool as well as a rain collection and water harvesing /purification system. The goal is to teach them that they indeed can feed themselves and purify their own water right where they are. Toilets and showers will be built if the funds allow.

Some of you may know my story and some may not. So i'll share a little with you about the past and then i'll share with you about why im reaching out to you. Back in 2010 I had the opportunity to go to Haiti after an earthquake that devastated the country and help rebuild. As many of you know, during that experience, I met my husband and 5 years and 3 kids later, here I am sharing this with you. Going to Haiti clearly changed my life in so many ways. Haiti is a part of me now and  the people there are still in my heart. I will never forget the people i met or the things I experienced there. Since my first trip to Haiti, God placed the Hatian people in my heart and God continues to show me that he still wants me to do more there. Over the last year I have been praying that God would show me what he wants me to do and a couple of months ago i learned of some refugees living on a small island that were really struggling. I kept praying for these people and God has layed it on my heart to do whatever i possibly could to help them. There are about 150 families and close to 300 children living on a small island near the border of Haiti and the Dominican Republilc. It is possible more refugees will move there.

The first refugees moved to this island 12 years ago and for the last 12 years the people on the island have been struggling to survive. They have difficulty getting access to clean water. Water has to be brought by boat and that is rare. They struggle to eat every day. These famlies are barely surviving and barely surviving for a long time. They are in desperate need of water, food and medical care. Anything you can imagine, they need. I started researching water projects and contacting different organizations who might be able to help me. As I started talking to people I learned how difficult getting clean water on the island  would be. And to get water by boat they have to pay to have water brought but they dont have money to get water every day. They cant have a well dug, and a filtration system that would remove salt from the water surrounding the island would cost an unbelievble amount of money. I believe these challenges are why they have struggled for water for so long .I became very discouraged and started doubting that I could really help these families. I kept telling myself  this was to big for me . The amount of money that I would have to raise to help them really got me worried. And I was having such a hard time finding someone who could do a project on the island. But God continued to show me that nothing is to big for him. To me, it would take a miracle to raise this amount of money needed and to find someone who was willing to help me. But God has shown me to obey him and everything will work out.

I talked to a lot of organizations and ministries in Haiti and in the US.  After a lot of research I found an organization in Arizona that does rain collection and rain harvesting projects and well as sustainable food projects. The amount of money to do this entire project is half the cost to do other treatments systems. The organization has agreed to go and  I am teaming up with them and they have a team ready to head to Haiti this June! I am so excited about what this means for the families on the island in Malpasse. This project will change their lives. It will give them access to water and also doing a sustainable food project will teach them to grow many different types of food. We will also purchase goats and chickens for milk and eggs, and a  talapia fish pond will be built for food. We also hope to build showers and toilets as they have none of these. As you can see, this project will completely transform these families lives! I am reaching out to you because I need a miracle! The project will cost $10,000. This is for materials needed as well as the cost of shipping the materials to Haiti. If I am able to raise more than the $10,000, any other funds would be used to ship clothes, shoes and toiletries to these families. You can go to  gardenpool.org/garden-pool-malpasse-haiti and check out their donation page.

They have some more photos than what i have on here as well as a video of refugess in Malpasse. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I have a lot more I would like to share with you but it would take to long :) Every dollar raised will go toward this project. You can donate on here or if you need a tax deduction you can donate on the garden pool link above.Thank you for helping with this miracle! This means so much to me. I look at the pictures and think of these families every day. I think of the parents that have to watch there kids go hungry every day or not be able to have a drink of water when they are thirsty. I can even stand to think of it.I have never had to tell my kids they cant have a drink or something to eat today. It just breaks my heart. I witnessed this to much in Haiti and I just cant do nothing. So again, thank you from the bottom of my heart if you are able to help and share this story if you can!
