McGill Olympic Fund
Why this group? Well, this is what I'll call the "How come no one ever told me - I'd have done something Group" or "How come Jeff never said anything to me ? Group."
This all started when a couple of you heard me talking about the expense of the trip to the Olympics. Three of you immediately offer to help out financially, but I had no mechanism set up to handle that. I talked to my local banker Dick O'Neill and there is now an account set up at Prospect Bank. 1601 S. Prospect (at Kirby Ave) Champaign, 61821. It's called the "McGill Olympic Fund". Donations can be anonymous (cash) if you want or check made out to the "fund".
Just so you have an idea: Plane fare is $1,200 airport parking. Event tickets for Tyler's 4 swims are $700-$800 face value (more if buying online or from scalpers) and rooming-house rates are about $150-$300 / night / per person x 4 nights = $600-$1,200. Hotels are $600 per night and up. Add in food and ground transportation and that totals $3,000 -3,500 per. With 3 kids going = $12,000 - $14,000 total.
I'm not asking you to contribute just letting you know that there is a way to help, if you are so inclined. Now, for those who can/want to help, at least you know how to and down the road neither of us will feel bad that I didn't tell you about this.
