Arizona Science Lab for Grades 4-8
Donation protected
Since 2009, Arizona Science Lab (ASL) has been offering hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) workshops for Grades 4-8 in the Phoenix, AZ, metro area.
The workshops, free to teachers and students, are taught by volunteer engineers and scientists with decades of industry experience and a love for science and teaching.
Our hands-on workshops feature solar cars, bottle rockets, electric motors, waterwheels, sail boats, oscillators & waves, and other fun projects. To date ASL has taught over 14,000 students. All schools are welcome, with special attention to Title I schools, schools for the deaf, and schools with large minority populations.
Our goal is to "light a spark" in elementary school children that may lead them to pursue a career in science or engineering.
We have been partially funded in the past by grants from foundations, but we need additional funding to continue our program into 2015-16. The ASL website is at www.AzScienceLab.org .
A collection of 1-minute video trailers of our workshops is available at this link , and longer videos of our workshops are at this link.
Arizona Science Lab is run under the sponsorship and auspices of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), a 501c3 organization. As such, your donation may be tax deductible. Your donation acknowlegment will include a copy of the IRS 501c3 qualification letter for the IEEE. As always, you should consult your tax adviser regarding the deductibility of your contribution.
