Help Karin Battle Ovarian Cancer

Donation protected

Hello,

My name is Michael and I am a friend of Karin's.  I met Karin many years ago when she lived in Massachusetts.  I met her at a party of a friend and immediately fell for her., but was thrown into the friend zone almost instantaneously.  LOL.  As luck would have it,  years later, Karin is the one responsible for bringing my wife and I together, and I will forever be grateful for her friend zoning me.  My life would not be as half as amazing as it is, if it wasn't for Karin's devine intervention.  LOL

Throughout my life I have always heard stories from friends who knew of someone who had cancer.  Never did I ever think it would ever hit home for me the way it did last week.  Karin, one of the most selfless, kind, caring, giving, loving, positive people I know told me about what she is about to face.  Found quite by accident, Karin had gone in for an MRI for her lower back.  When she met with her doctor to discuss the results he informed her the radiologist called him the night before with the news.  Karin has an extremely large complex mass on her right ovary, about the size of a grapefruit.  On her left ovary, is another, the size of a golf ball.  Also, as if that wasn't enough, there is a cyst on her uterus as well.

Karin immediately went to her OB/GYN and had a transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound which confirmed these findings.  Karin was then sent for bloodwork which determined extremely elevated markers for CA125, HE4 and ROMA - stating high risk for malignancy.

Karin did her best to make an appt with an Oncologist her OB/GYN recommended, but not even one out of the four were available until the 18th of this month.  Karin told me she was texting one of her friends, an old colleague who, unbeknownst to her, was working behind the scenes pulling strings to get her in with a friend of a friend who just happens to be an Oncologist at Mt. Sinai in NYC.  She got Karin the appt 3 days after her bloodwork results.  (Thank you CR - she calls you an angel in disguise)

A friend of Karin's drove her into the city this past Thursday (Thank you KK) and it was determined that, due to the make up of the cysts, the levels of the markers from the bloodwork, and her family history,  Karin needs to have surgery ASAP and was scheduled for next week.  A full abdominal hysterectomy.

As positive as she is trying to remain,  you can imgaine all the things that are going through her head.

Here is why I want to help.  Karin is unemployed and as of this month (October) has no income what-so-ever.  She's been hunting for a job for months and just as she started to get bites and phone calls on her resume and applications, she was hit with this news.

I do not want her to have to worry about where her rent money is going to come from.  Or her Cobra Insurance (so she can continue with her same doctors and care  or even God forbid, treatment that she may/will need after the surgery) or her car insurance.  Or her phone bill, gas electric etc.  Even if all goes well with the surgery, and surgery is all she will need to remove these nasty  tumors from her body, she will need a full 6-8 weeks of recovery.

Karin has been an amazing friend over the years.  I have seen her go above and beyond for people who don't even deserve to have her in their life.  I have watched her give to others even during her hard times simply telling them to pay it forward.  Others, she has helped financially by loaning them money, of course, have never paid her back.  Taking full advantage of her kindness.
Karin is the kind of person where, I feel, her smile and her energy alone will light up a room.  Her personality is genuinely alluring and rather humorous.  Her soul is pure.  She is honest to a fault and she is definitely someone who simply does not deserve this kind of struggle.  We aren't in the states right now and all my wife and I want to do is give her a big ol’ hug and comfort her.  But we are so glad she has the friends and family she does so they can do this for us.  I also want to note a special thanks to another friend of hers who loaned her money to pay for her insurance for this month simply so she could have this done.  Thank you to AG and thank you DD for taking her next week.  (She speaks so highly of all of you and others who she has confided in that have been providing such amazing emotional support - yes, I literally took notes when she was telling me all of this LOL)

Please help me help her to put her mind at ease financially so she can focus on a full recovery  and get back her beautiful smile I KNOW she's hiding behind a fake one right now.  Help me show her stubborn self it is OK to ask for help and it is OK to accept it and that she definitely deserves it.  Keep her in your prayers and send her tons of positive and healing energy.  Karin is the kind of person we desperately need in this world.  And I am the kind of person that needs to show her, kindness is something that still exists.

I have set up this account so that Karin is the one to receive the donations. Not me.

Thank you all for your support.  I know it will mean the world to her.
