Typhoon Haiyan Relief - Philippines

Donation protected
A Richmond, Virginia family needs your help raising money for the shipping costs needed to send relief items to the typhoon-ravaged Philippines!

Thanks to friends and family and huge response in the Metro Richmond Area, an overflow of kindness has led to an abundance of boxes ready to be sent to the Philippines. Please help us as we transport these goods where they are needed most.

Background:

Retired couple, Al & Victoria Marcelino, has been sending boxes of supplies to the Philippines as part of their missionary work, via the Yoke of Kindness ministry, for many years. Much of their work centers specifically on giving and aiding the towns on the island of Leyte. This recent trip back to their homeland was to be just like any other.

Yet, in what was supposed to be an annual trip to the Philippines to continue their charity work, they never expected to be caught up in one of the most terrible storms the Philippines had ever seen.

For weeks, communication was cut off. Their safety and condition unknown. All anyone could do was hope and pray that these senior citizens were safe. It was a relief for their children, Jewelle and Tiffanie, when they finally received word, from other relatives, their parents were safe. It would be almost a month until they would actually here the voices of their mother and father.

After confirming their safety, the family found that their parents became first responders and the only means of relief aid to the people of Tacloban & Oramock, Leyte. However their ability to give relief was limited by their quickly dwindling stock of supplies.

In response to their parents accounts of the peoples actual needs, Jewelle and Tiffanie mobilized immediately and were able to collect over 125 large boxes filled with necessary survival items. Atlas Shippers East was generous enough to set aside space for relief goods and even gave them boxes and discounted shipping rates. Various members of the Richmond community also donated their time and energy to sort, organize, and pack the goods.

Unfortunately, Atlas cannot permanently offer this discounted shipping rate, and there are still boxes of supplies (and more donations coming as you read this!) that are desperately needed in Leyte.

What the Marcelino family needs now is $9000 to help with the cost of extra boxes and delivery of donated items via large shipping container on a freight ship. Any amount you can give would be appreciated, no matter how small the amount! Until now, it has comes from their own pockets. This family isn't rich, but would like to simply finish what was started and send the donations to the Philippines.

100% of the proceeds will be going towards the shipping of supplies to Yoke of Kindness Ministry, Leyte base. These supplies will be given directly to those who need it most.
